According to BetMGM, a fortunate Michigan online casino player won a $1 million progressive slot jackpot this week with a just 40-cent wager.
MGM Resorts International's iGaming and online sportsbook platform is called BetMGM. On Thursday, the digital gambling operator announced that a Southfield, Michigan, online casino player had won big while playing Bison Fury. The winner requested anonymity.
Entain, the Isle of Man-based gaming conglomerate that owns 50% of BetMGM's US operations, created the exclusive interactive slot game Bison Fury for BetMGM.
The subject of the five-reel slot machine Bison Fury is the American wilderness. With both the main game and bonus spins, the slot machine offers players over 1,000 opportunities to win.
West Virginia, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Michigan are among the states where BetMGM offers its online casino games. In addition to 22 states, the platform's online sportsbook is open in Washington, DC, and Puerto Rico.
Large Wins on BetMGM
A player in Pittsburgh also won a lot of money, according to MGM, in addition to the $1 million online slot victory in Michigan. According to the firm, a Pittsburgh gambler who played at the Borgata Online Casino won $525,726.
The MGM Grand Millions Megaways slot machine was the source of the woman's wealth, according to MGM. This five-reel slot machine, which has 243 ways to win, is another game developer-only offering for MGM's online casino operations.
"BetMGM congratulates the recent winners at Borgata Online and BetMGM on their big jackpots. We love making moments like this even more memorable through our new jackpot program,” a release from BetMGM read.
Last year, MGM's online casino platforms paid out over $138 million in slot jackpots, a 32% increase over the previous year. Over half of the cash was from MGM Grand Million Megaways and Bison Fury.
Together, the BetMGM casino platforms—which include its affiliates like Borgata Online—provide more than 2,700 interactive games.
Proceeding with the Case
In unrelated BetMGM news, a Michigan lady who believed she had won millions while playing online was informed that her account had suggested she had won $11 million after she had only funded it with $50 due to a computer problem.
Detroit resident Jacqueline Davis said that she spent hours playing online roulette on BetMGM in 2022 while her winnings continued to mount. When she finally chose to cash out, she had gone through a losing run that had reduced her account balance to about $3 million.
Davis visited Detroit's MGM Motor City to get a cash advance on her winnings. She was given $100,000 and instructed to come back the following day to pick up the remaining funds. However, Davis was notified upon her return that the BetMGM platform had malfunctioned and that the remaining portion of her assumed reward would not be paid.
In exchange for signing a nondisclosure agreement promising not to mention the error in public, Davis was assured she could retain the $100,000. Rather, she filed a lawsuit.
Although state courts have now taken MGM's favor, the case was accepted by the Michigan Supreme Court on May 29. At a later date, each side will have 20 minutes to present their claims and defense to the top court.
